Registration for language and culture courses is open until 1 September, and both students and all others interested in joining our courses are welcome.
The University of Tartu Institute of Foreign Languages and Cultures offers various language courses for beginners, intermediate and advanced learners. In the spring semester of the 2023/2024 academic year, you can choose from 17 languages: Ancient Greek, Chinese, English, Estonian, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Swedish and Ukrainian. In addition, we offer several culture courses.
Choose the language you want to study from the list above and see the courses available this semester. Find the instructions for registration here.
Registration for autumn semester language courses is open from 15 May to 1 September. Language lessons start in the first week of September and last until the end of May. Classes take place 1-2 times a week.

The mentoring programme offers a valuable experience for both students and alumni
The mentoring programme will be held again this autumn semester, welcoming students, alumni and university staff to apply until 23 September.
Doctoral students are invited to present their research at the three-minute thesis competition

Information session for starting international students of the Faculty
The first weeks at the university bring new acquaintances, new buildings, a new daily schedule and, of course, a lot of new knowledge. To organize the first weeks and the rest of the studies better, we have put together an information session on the most important topics, where first-year students can find out how to navigate the university.
