Apply for the virtual thesis writing workshop

Are you a Bachelor's or Master's student starting or already working on your thesis? Do you want to strengthen your skills to navigate the thesis writing process with confidence?

Join a virtual three-day workshop and learn writing strategies for managing every stage of your thesis – from planning, drafting, and revision to time management – with a focus on using your multilingual abilities as a resource in academic writing. After the workshop, you'll also have the opportunity to join writing groups for ongoing peer feedback and motivation to keep you inspired and on track.

Online workshop times:

  • Monday, 17. February 2025 14:00–15:30 CET;
  • Tuesday, 18. February 2025 14:00–18:00 CET and
  • Thursday, 20. February 2025 14:00–18:30 CET.

In this workshop you can:

  • master the academic writing process;
  • develop a clear plan for drafting, structuring, and revising your thesis;
  • enter a safe space which is designed around your needs;
  • engage in a supportive, inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and fosters collaborative learning;
  • discover the benefits and possibilities of peer feedback as an essential aspect of your writing journey.

The workshop is organized by the Enlight network. The workshop will take place in the BigBlueButton environment and will be led by researchers from the network’s universities. The workshop is open to 20 participants. Ten places are reserved for students from the University of Göttingen as the lead partner, four places are reserved for students from both Ghent University and the University of Tartu, and two places are reserved for students from other Enlight network universities. Dr Nicholas Groom, Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics at the University of Birmingham, UK, has been appointed as a Visiting Professor of English at the Centre of Academic Writing and the Department of English Studies within the Institute of Foreign Languages and Cultures as of January 2025.
