Scholarships for Estonian summer courses

There are different scholarships for Estonian summer courses held at the University of Tartu Institute of Foreign Languages and Cultures. Please note that the deadlines and application forms for scholarships may be different. Learn more about the conditions and application deadlines of the scholarships below.


1. Estonian National Scholarship

2. Estonian Education and Youth Board Scholarship (EKKAV)

Application period: to be announced

The EKKAV scholarship for attending Estonian language and culture courses can be applied for by all international university students interested in the Estonian language and culture who are studying or have previously studied Estonian. The applicant has to be enrolled at a foreign university at the time of applying (BA, MA or PhD student). You can read more about the application process on the homepage of the Estonian Education and Youth Board


3. Scholarship by the DAAD for German students

Application period: to be announced

German students (incl. international students studying in Germany) can apply for a grant as part of the Go East summer school program at the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The scholarship consists of living expenses, travel expenses and course fees. The applicants must apply in two places - for a place in the summer school via the local application process and to the DAAD for the scholarship. 4. Scholarship for the PhD students of Tartu University

Application period: to be announced

Doctoral students of Tartu University can apply for a scholarship that covers the tuition fee, study materials, coffee breaks and daily culture programme (e.g. at least two museum visits). Accommodation costs and lunch breaks are not covered. In total, there are 30 scholarships available. The applicants must submit the summer course application form (includes a motivation letter approximately 1 A4 in length) by 1 April 2024.
