In the Autumn of 2024 English philology students started a book club called The Bard’s Book Club. The club focuses on literature related to English speaking cultures and all discussions are held in English.

Anyone is welcome to join, whether they are students at Tartu University or not. The books are chosen by vote, available before the meetings on the social media and website. The chosen book is announced also on social media and posters around university buildings. The meetings take place on the first Wednesday of every month at 6pm, room 212 in the Lossi 3 building.

The next meeting is on the 2nd of April 2025 and we will be discussing "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley.

Previous books that we have discussed:

  • 2 October 2024: No need to read the book yet! This meeting is an opportunity for members of the book club to meet each other and talk about their favourite books
  • 6 November 2024: “Good Omens” by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
  • 4 December 2024: "If We Were Villains" by M. L. Rio
  • 12 February 2025: "Fight Club" by Chuck Palahniuk
  • 5 March 2025: "This is How You Lose the Time War" by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone
